LPG: Free 10 million gas cylinders, know how to find out

New Delhi. The rate for domestic gas cylinders is currently Rs 809 in Delhi. Gas cylinders have become very expensive since December. But let us tell you that the government plans to give gas cylinders to 1 crore people for free. Yes, this is not a rumor. In fact, while presenting the budget in Parliament on 1 February, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced to provide free gas connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana to 1 crore families below the poverty line. Cylinder to meet in this financial year

According to the announcement made by the Finance Minister, only 1 crore families will be given free gas cylinders in the financial year 2021-22. These cylinders will be delivered in those states and regions where the beneficiaries of the Ujjwala scheme are still few. For your information, let us know that under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, till 31 January 2021, about 8.3 crore families have been given free LPG connections. In this financial year, the government wants to increase it to 1 crore more families.

The plan was started 5 years ago

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 1 May 2016. The target of this scheme is to provide free LPG connections to women from below poverty line families (BPL). Initially, a target was given to provide free LPG connections to 5 crore women. But later it was extended. Explain that till 23 October 2017 only 3 crore connections were distributed, out of which 44% were given to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe families.

Know the other details of Ujjwala scheme

Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Scheme, Rs 1600 is given by the Central Government as financial assistance to poor families. Such families get this money for LPG gas connection. EMI facility is also available for buying gas stove and cylinder for the first time. But keep in mind that the application for this scheme can be made only in the name of a female member of the family.

Rules can change

Under the Ujjwala scheme, the government will provide Rs 1600 as subsidy to the beneficiary. But for advance payment, you have to pay money together. In this government scheme, customers get 14.2 kg cylinder and stove, which costs around Rs 3200. The government provides a subsidy of Rs 1600 as subsidy. Know further how to apply for this scheme.

How to apply

The process of registration under the Ujjwala scheme is quite easy. Keep in mind that only a woman from the BPL family can apply to get a gas connection under the Ujjwala scheme. For the rest of the registration, you have to fill a form first. Submit that form to the nearest LPG distributor. You have to include BPL card, Ration card, Aadhar card, Voter ID, Ration card and Bank statement at the time of application. Also, you should have passport size photographs.
